ABOUT THE BOOK

This book is a dystopian political satire along the lines of Aldous Huxley’s 1984 and George Orwell’s Brave New World. It is the story, written by two different narrators, of a highly charismatic, yet extremely controversial, politician who was elected to the presidency of the Nation in 2016. The first narrator is a devotee of the man he speaks of as “Our Illustrious Leader” (as do other devotees) and writes from the perspective of one who believes his subject can do no wrong. The second narrator is a PhD candidate in political science who is researching his dissertation on “the strategy and tactics of a political ‘outsider’.” He attempts to tell the story from a purely objective, academic perspective. The two perspectives are strikingly dissimilar. The story ends abruptly when “the leader” is assassinated on August 21, 2018
